Dennis’ career aspirations were shaped by early experiences as a chicken farmer, truck driver and factory worker. As an undergraduate, he had clear academic direction focused on protecting and improving the rights of workers. This commitment brought Dennis to a master’s degree program at a Labor Relations Research Center where he interned with the Tri-Trades Council, representing electricians, plumbers and carpenters. It was his point of inflection, when union leaders convinced him that working in corporate management would give him more influence and greater impact on people’s lives. This alternative path has allowed Dennis to realize his career ambitions.
